Prerequisites

First-Level Core Math (QA) course

Course Description

Duplicate Course: No credit for students who have taken CIS C059, C061, 0067, or 0081.
Introduces students to computer and computer programming. Topics covered include the general characteristics of computers, techniques of problem solving, and algorithm specification, and the debugging and testing of computer programs in the C language.

Programming Environment

The programming language used for this course is C. The operating system in the lab is Redhat Linux 9, with gcc as the C compiler.

Grading

There will be two mid-term exams and a comprehensive final exam, plus a few quizzes. All of them will be closed-book. The exams will count for 70% of your grade, quizzes 5%, and lab assignments 25% of your grade. To pass the course, you must maintain a passing average on both the exams and the lab assignments. Students who miss the final and do not make alternative arrangements with me before I turn in the grades will be graded F.

All of the above must be the student's own work. Plagiarism and academic cheating will be punished.

Attendance to all lectures, labs, and examinations are required.
